Full-Time or Part-Time Veterinarian
Heekin Animal Hospital is seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time Veterinarian to join our expanding practice just 10 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.
We are an established Northern Kentucky small animal practice. Dr. Heekin is a fervent believer in the importance of individually owned practices in the veterinary marketplace. For more than 20 years, Heekin Animal Hospital has thrived in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. In 2025, Dr. Heekin relocated the clinic to a beautiful new facility and is looking to add both full-time and part-time veterinary talent to our team.
HAH employs well-trained Licensed Veterinary Technicians and support staff, along with high-quality diagnostic, treatment, and surgical equipment, so you can practice in an encouraging, supportive, and collaborative environment that promotes mentorship. Dr. Heekin has a special interest in dental health and pain control. As a member of VMG, Dr. Heekin strives to run an efficient practice where profit is a goal, not a motive.
Qualifications to Apply:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution
- At least one year of experience in a small animal general practice
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and staff
- High interest in dentistry
- Interest in continued professional development
- For full-time candidates, preference may be given to applicants with a desire to eventually buy into a practice and pursue ownership

- Salary is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, and other relevant credentials
- $120,000–$165,000 salary range for a full-time work week

POSITION:
Veterinary Assistant for growing, small animal practice in Northern Kentucky. This position is integral to the function of our practice as a facilitator of interactions between vets, techs, clients, and pets. A good assistant understands the highs and lows of working with family pets and is able to maintain a warm yet professional demeanor through it all. We want you to be as dedicated to the care of our patients and clients as we are.
OUR PRACTICE:
Heekin Animal Hospital is a practice located in Taylor Mill, just off I-275. We are located in a newly constructed, large, free-standing clinic with one fulltime doctor and several part-time doctors.
We take pride in the care of our clients and their pets. Our friendly high-touch approach builds relationships with owners and pampers pets with low-stress handling and lots of treats. We emphasize high quality anesthetic and surgical care. In addition, the practice is highly focused on dental care for pets.
HOURS: Day Shift - Monday - Friday, some Saturday mornings
On a Typical Day, a Veterinary Assistant Will:
Support the Veterinarian and Technicians during Outpatient Visits:
- Start each visit and prepare for the veterinarian's examination
- Restrain pets and assist technicians with blood sampling and outpatient procedures
- Assist the veterinarian in the exam room
- Record examination findings in the computerized medical record
- Explain medication instructions to the client
- Complete the invoice and check out the client in the exam room
- Maintain supplies and cleanliness in exam room
Support the Veterinarians and Technicians with Surgery and Dentistry:
- Restrain pets for anesthesia induction
- Assist technicians with surgical set up and patient prep
- Assist technicians with post op-patient care
- Clean, wrap, and autoclave surgical instruments.
- Clean and sanitize surgical and dental areas after use
- Maintain stocked and organized workspaces
- End of day cleaning and disinfection of floors
QUALIFICATIONS:
